ART:- LIFE AS HARAGA

haraga-01

We adore Jan Sochor - He’s one of our favorite photographers out there!… He always tells powerful real life global stories through the images he captures. The following is from one of his latest collection called HARAGA, the story attached is as follows:

haraga-02

Every day tens of Moroccan men try to cross the Strait of Gibraltar illegally into Europe. They are called  HARAGA (*meaning immigrant in Arabic).

haraga-03

They come to Tanger from all over Morocco, fuelled by dreams of reaching the West, so they too can grow fat, shop in a boring supermarkets, work all hours of the day, use computer games to entertain themselves and endlessly socialize in bars and worry about diet plans! :-)

ebonyb

Sitting somewhere between Santigold & MIA, the very creative Ebony Bones brings a really fresh vibe and style to the music scene!! – She’s almost like a young futuro female UK version of George Clinton’s Parliament Funk sound & style!!… It’s far too hard to categorize her! – she’s totally unique, original & too wild to be defined!! – All you can do is switch up the volume and just absorb the sounds!!.. A must have for your travel music, perfect to listen to on your plane ride to your destination, grooving in the middle of a rainy jungle or whilst partying in a hostel or a mountain top!! – it’s a pure energetic music and we love it!! - Check it out below:

Check out more another kool song from Ebony after the  jump…

SPORTS:- SCUBA DIVE WITH SHARKS!!!

Ok, granted this might not be the usual outdoor activity for most people, but Scramblers are people who love to go a step further!…. So how about Scuba Diving with Sharks!!!!! - yikes!.. gulp

shark

Early November is the best time of the year to find these predators in the deep blue of the Red Sea. Don’t worry about swimming with sharks because are actually quite docile creatures…but Spielberg that has given them the man-eating Hollywood make over which drives the extra bad publicity they get. Yet as long as you don’t accidentally drip your blood into the ocean or kick them, you should be technically fine (*gulp). Look on the bright side, if anything goes wrong, you will definitely have a great story to share with your future kids about the time “mummy or daddy out swarm Jaws!” :-)

DO GOOD:- WATER.ORG

mattgary

OK.. so we are quickly dipping our toes into ‘mainstream world’ for a good reason… we felt a need to draw your attention to the efforts of Matt Damon’s new non-profit organization called Water.org. It is a project that is rapidly transforming hundreds of communities in Africa, South Asia and Central America by providing access to safe water and sanitation.

Like all great project, they need help, and yes, we are all currently going through these crunch times, yet every little bit will help. Even if all you can do right now is just help spread the word, it still will make a difference! – so please CLICK HERE to learn more about Water.org.

Matt explains the importance of what he’s doing as:- “Every 15seconds, a child in the developing world dies from water related diseases. After visiting project sites in Africa and Asia with Gary, I’ve seen the problem and impact of safe water.”

FOOD:- PLATY PRESERVE

platy_preserve_We are all for sampling local wine whilst traveling – infact we think of it as a requirement!… another way of sensing the local culture, and like food, its a way of understanding the tradition of that community through our tastebuds.

Well, once in a while, you drink a local wine that tastes so fck good that you immediately know you need to take a few bottles home with you and share it with your friends and family!!… yet the problem is having to carry around a few red wine bottles in the same backpack as your favorite white tshirt!…gulp

So thank God, that Platypus is here to save the day!!! – Platypuswhat you ask??…  Platypus is an ingenious way to transport wine without having to deal with bulky glass bottles or boxes. The PlatyPreserve can hold an entire bottle of wine, is flexible, leak-proof and airtight. Best of all, the container has the ability to keep out flavor-killing oxygen, so the wine can be preserved for days or even weeks!!

So now, you have a great way to bring back an essence of the authentic local culinary culture whilst helping to add  ‘flavor’ to the stories and photos you share with your friends & family. Bon Appetit!
