SPORTS:- SCUBA DIVE WITH SHARKS!!!

Ok, granted this might not be the usual outdoor activity for most people, but Scramblers are people who love to go a step further!…. So how about Scuba Diving with Sharks!!!!! - yikes!.. gulp

Early November is the best time of the year to find these predators in the deep blue of the Red Sea. Don’t worry about swimming with sharks because are actually quite docile creatures…but Spielberg that has given them the man-eating Hollywood make over which drives the extra bad publicity they get. Yet as long as you don’t accidentally drip your blood into the ocean or kick them, you should be technically fine (*gulp). Look on the bright side, if anything goes wrong, you will definitely have a great story to share with your future kids about the time “mummy or daddy out swarm Jaws!” :-)

If you are tempted to tempt fate by swimming with these creatures, then simply get in contact with Scuba Travel or White Shark Ecoventures and book yourself a trip! -  Scuba Travel specializes in worldwide scuba diving holidays and their friendly team is comprised of divers who know exactly what it takes to help you meet a shark, make your dream come true! – You get full board accommodation onboard the diveboat, 3 to 4 dives per day depending on conditions and travel times, weights and weight belts, tanks, air refills plus FREE NITROX!!… There’s a regular liveboard departure from Sharm el Sheikh, Hurghada and Marsa Alam in the Red Sea, and they also cater for further afield travel destinations like Maldives, Sudan, Djibouti, Indonesia, Galapagos And Cocos.

White Shark Ecoventures invites you cage diving with great white sharks in the aptly named “Shark Alley”, near the fishing village of Gansbaai, South Africa. They offer you an opportunity to dive and meet the Great White Shark face to face (*gulp) on your own terms. Its an education and you will soon learn that this magnificent creature is infact highly misunderstood. So if you are an adventurous diver who will like to scramble it up by swimming with sharks – make sure you check  both companies. Details are as follows:

Please note: “Not every diver is allowed to go Scuba Diving with Sharks, because a certain amount of diving experience is required. Therefore you need to be a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent with at least 50 dives in your logbook.”

I saw two hammerheads (first ever) and two white tip reef sharks in The Red Sea in June.

I don’t approve of diving in cages and creating a false environment in order to see dangerous sharks. I dived in the Caymen where they feed stingrays. It was weird and I didn’t like it. People can get hurt if they panic.

I also don’t approve of touching any wildlife underwater. Ditto with the rays in the Caymens. Some species have very delicate skin or can be dangerous or poisonous.

    Nice photos though.
